Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement after voting to sustain President Trump's veto of the National Defense Authorization Act Monday evening:

As I said when I first voted against this bill, it is a blueprint for a military that serves the swamp first and America and her troops last.

This bill perpetuates the war in Afghanistan, hamstrings the president's reduction of American troops elsewhere, maintains the status quo of undeclared wars all over the globe, prohibits the reduction of wasteful military spending overseas.

The American people got a very clear glimpse at the total dysfunction and incompetency of the U.S. Congress as it passed a massive lobby-driven 5600 page spending bill negotiated in back rooms to spend over $2.3 trillion with mere hours to review it. Allegedly passed as "COVID relief," we actually voted on both COVID measures and a massive omnibus spending package — a package that should have been divided into well over 20 bills.

Rep. Chip Roy is pleased to announce the winner for the 2020 Congressional App Challenge (CAC) in TX-21. There were multiple talented students that submitted their creations for consideration by our volunteer judges.

The winning contestant is Mr. Aidan Underwood of San Antonio and his app Hawkeye. Mr. Underwood attends Legacy of Educational Excellence High School in North East ISD.
