Rep. Roy statement on voting against H.J. Res. 110
Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement after voting against H.J. Res. 110, Extension of Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021:
Once again, the powers that be demanded that we extend the self-imposed deadline they once again failed to meet, and they expected us to do it by spending billions of taxpayer dollars without holding a recorded vote. I was proud to join my friend Andy Biggs on the floor to say no to that—and to say no to spending at levels that have busted spending caps multiple times over.
A vote for this resolution was a vote to legitimize a broken, closed-door negotiations "process" that robs the American people of their seat at the table by keeping their representatives in the dark until the very last minute.
Tomorrow we will be asked to vote on a $2.4 trillion bill—or bills—which we still have not seen and that will be filled with thousands of pages expanding federal programs that literally harm the very nation we are supposed to serve.
