WASHINGTON--Rep. Chip Roy released the following statement Thursday regarding the appointment of Matthew Kacsmaryk to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas:

"Matt is a friend, a University of Texas Law School classmate, and a patriot. I am thankful for his and his family's willingness to serve the nation and the state of Texas. We are all better for his strong commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law. Texas is better off having Kacsmaryk at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas."
