Rep. Chip Roy released the following statement Wednesday regarding his vote on the articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump:

"Today, I voted against the articles of impeachment against President Trump.

"House Democrats have failed to provide compelling evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors meriting impeachment. What they have succeeded in doing is upending the legislative session and tearing our nation apart in their long-standing effort to remove the president, now just over 10 months until the 2020 election.

"Today I cast my vote in support of the FY20 NDAA Conference Report, supporting a 3.1% pay raise for our men and women in uniform. Funding of projects and programs vital to our national security and fixing the long-overdue Widow's Tax provision to eliminate the needless loss of benefits for those whose spouses have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Rep. Chip Roy joined 159 of his Republican colleagues Monday in sending a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi requesting she bring the USMCA trade agreement to the House floor for a vote.
