Dripping Springs, Texas — Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement Thursday in recognition of San Jacinto Day:
 

Today, on the anniversary of routing the Mexican dictator Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto, Texas celebrates the hard-won birth of our republic and the restoration of our God-given liberties as a people. The spirits of 1836 and 1776, in this regard, are one and the same. 

However, 186 years after San Jacinto, Texas is once again under siege.

WASHINGTON — Rep. Roy issued the following statement Wednesday regarding his vote against H.Res. 831:
 

I voted no on H.Res. 831. NATO is a military alliance, and I fail to see how establishing a “Center for Democratic Resilience” tasked with “monitoring and identifying challenges to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law” strengthens such an alliance or serves American interests.
