‘We should encourage the killing of terrorists, not negotiating with them’: Rep. Roy calls on Biden administration to get to work and support Israel
May 20, 2021
WASHINGTON — On Thursday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) joined House GOP Chair Elise Stefanik (NY-21) and other Republican colleagues in a press conference, affirming Israel's right and obligation to defend itself from terrorist attacks and calling on the Biden administration to take concrete action to stand with Israel.
Some key quotes from the press conference are below and footage of his remarks are here:
- Israel not only has a right to defend itself, but it has an obligation, a duty, to defend itself. And we have a duty in our country to stand alongside our friend, Israel.
- We should defer to Israel, to determine what is necessary to protect its citizens and deliver a decisive blow to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. In other words, we should encourage the killing of terrorists, not negotiating with them.
- The President should not be listening to musings of our House colleagues that are effectively in the Hamas squad and that's what we see here in the House of Representatives.
- Israel should be commended for its unprecedented efforts in warfare to take every effort possible to minimize- to target terrorist targets and to give warning to minimize civilian casualties.
- We need the President of the United States to represent the People of the United States. And the People of the United States Stand with Israel. And it's time that the president reflect that will.
