‘Tell the feds to just back off’: Rep. Roy on fighting Democrats’ election takeover bill
May 25, 2021
Washington — On Monday afternoon, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21), along with Reps. Jody Hice (GA-10) and Ted Budd (NC-13), took part in a panel discussion hosted by the Texas Public Policy Foundation on the dangers that H.R. 1 — Democrats' federal election takeover attempt — poses to American elections and the future of our country.
Footage of the full panel discussion is available here, and some key quotes are below:
- "With the massive ramp-up of mail-in ballots, using COVID as the excuse, that's at the heart of what we saw and our concerns about the election in the last cycle and going forward. So, H.R. 1 would essentially lock in place all of that COVID response."
- "We have to send a loud signal in Texas that this is not just how we think; this is how we're going to conduct elections ... And tell the feds to just back off."
- "I don't need permission from AOC, or Nancy Pelosi or anyone else in Washington to secure my home … I don't need permission to live free under my God-given rights."
