Reps. Chip Roy and Mike Johnson recommend NAF abortion lawyer to amend testimony to Congress

September 13, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC — On Monday, Representatives Chip Roy (TX-21) and Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Mike Johnson (LA-4) wrote a letter to National Abortion Federation chief legal strategist Talcott Camp to give her the opportunity amend her testimony for possibly misleading Congress during a May 2023 House Judiciary Committee hearing.

The congressmen wrote,“On May 16, 2023, you testified before the House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee… As part of your testimony, you questioned the authenticity of statements recorded on video that you had previously made and that the National Abortion Federation had certified as authentic in court proceedings. Naturally, these conflicting facts and statements raise serious questions regarding the accuracy of your testimony.”

“Providing false and misleading information to Congress violates the law.” The lawmakers stated. “It is our goal to give you the opportunity to correct the record and ensure that the American people and their congressional representatives have a complete understanding of the truth.”

At the hearing, Camp was questioned about her previous publicly disclosed video statement regarding the crushing of a baby’s skull as part of the abortion procedure. The quote from that video follows: “I'm like, oh, my God, I get it. When the skull is broken, that's really sharp. I get it. I understand why people are talking about getting that skull out, that calvarium.”

When Representative Roy asked, “So, true or false, did you say that?” Camp replied, “It’s impossible to know Congressman.” She was asked a second time, “Would you have said that?” “Is that something you would have said?” She replied, “I don’t know, Congressman.”

The representatives concluded, “Testimony before Congress ought to be true and knowingly providing materially false information to Congress ought to be punished by the Department of Justice. Therefore, we would like to give you the opportunity to amend your testimony.”

The representatives requested a response by Monday, September 18th, 2023.
