Rep. Roy, Texas Republican Delegation unveil border security plan ‘by Texans for Texas’

December 8, 2022

WASHINGTON— On Thursday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) stood alongside 22 Texas Republican House Members, and five Members-elect, to unveil the delegation’s border security framework — a 13-page document outlining which policy changes are necessary to ensure a secure southern border.

“House Republicans have made a Commitment to America to secure the southern border as part of our priority to create a ‘nation that is safe,’ the plan reads. “As Members of Congress representing Texans and the southern border we commit to the same and offer these solutions to fulfill the goals of the Commitment to America.”

The delegation’s agenda is a framework by Texans for Texas, which includes four priority areas:

  • Complete physical border infrastructure
  • Fix border enforcement policies
  • Enforce our laws in the interior
  • Target cartels & criminal organizations

Rep. Roy said:

“Texas is under siege from this invasion every day and our delegation is tired of watching the Biden Administration have ‘more important things to do’ than protect our fellow Texans and Americans from cartels, terrorists, fentanyl traffickers, human traffickers, human smugglers, and murderers. We are committing ourselves to secure our southern border; we will not accept anything less, and this framework outlines what it’s going to take to get the job done.”

Rep. Jodey Arrington said:

“No one understands or appreciates the widespread social and economic costs of Biden’s unprecedented open border crisis like the people of Texas. It only makes sense for the Texas Delegation to lead the way in using every tool and authority to secure the border, defend our sovereignty, and protect our citizens — and all Americans — from this epic disaster.”

Rep. Brian Babin said:

“From day one, the Lone Star State has had to fill the void left by a president who abandoned our southern border. With the Texas Border Commitment as our framework, we will work with leaders in the state and across the country to ensure that our laws are enforced and the nation is once again protected. Joe Biden will learn what so many already have: Don’t mess with Texas!”

Rep. Michael McCaul said:

“I spent more than 20 years as a federal prosecutor and served as Chairman of Homeland Security, but I have never seen the border this broken — and we have President Biden’s policies to blame for that. As Republican Leader on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I’m urging the State Department to negotiate solutions with our neighboring countries and will continue holding the Biden administration accountable for the crisis it has inflicted on all Americans — especially Texans.”

Rep. Dan Crenshaw said:

“As migrants and fentanyl continue to pour over our southern border, the Biden Administration sits idly by and refuses to even acknowledge this devastating crisis. Texas continues to bear the brunt of this mess, and Biden’s inaction speaks volumes. Come January 3rd, House Republicans will do everything in our power to secure our border and put an end to this national security crisis.”
