Rep. Roy statement on voting against Congressional resolution encouraging invocation of the 25th Amendment

January 12, 2021

WASHINGTON — Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement Tuesday after voting against H. Res. 21, which encourages the invocation of the 25th Amendment against President Donald Trump:

This resolution is not the appropriate use and purpose of the 25th Amendment, which the drafters made abundantly clear that it was meant for physical incapacity. This resolution would have no ultimate purpose other than to worsen the tensions in our current political dialogue.
