Rep. Roy on Speaker Pelosi's Continuing Resolution
September 25, 2020
Tonight, I voted against Speaker Pelosi's continuing resolution. I did so for a number of reasons.
It was irresponsible legislating, given that members of Congress were provided less than 2-hours to read the text, let alone debate it. Speaker Pelosi knew the government fiscal year was coming, but didn't even provide us text of the legislation until hours before the vote. She forced a vote in caps (on caps) busting $1.6 trillion CR.
Furthermore, the CR only came to a vote because leadership made closed-door deals to bailout certain programs with zero offsets.
I also don't think it's right to fund the salaries of Congress before helping the millions of small businesses keeping America employed and running.
