Rep. Roy Presses the San Antonio International Airport (SAT) for Refusing to Air Critical DHS/TSA Video

October 17, 2025

Washington, D.C. —Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) requests answers from the San Antonio International Airport (SAT) following reports of the airport refusing to show critical government shutdown information from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

“I appreciate the relationship my office has had with you and the San Antonio International Airport (SAT), located in the 21st congressional district, which I proudly represent. I have enjoyed our joint efforts to bring a direct flight from San Antonio to Washington Reagan and working to address troubling issues such as the attempted banning of Chick-fil-A in 2019,” Rep. Roy wrote.“I am disappointed, however, to see the airport I’ve worked so closely with now reportedly refuse to show a video featuring Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem informing passengers of the impacts of the government shutdown on Transportation Security Administration (TSA) operations.”

“Indeed, during the shutdown of 2019, when I was first in office, I came to SAT to meet with TSA personnel and offer support as we worked through those debates in Washington. So, I find it troubling that an institution receiving federal government funds refuses to show a video from the DHS secretary explaining how the shutdown is tangibly affecting airport wait times, operations, and personnel.” Roy continued.

“Given that the House of Representatives has passed legislation to fund the government, and thus TSA and airport operations, the obvious truth is that what we are experiencing is an undeniably Democrat-led federal government shutdown that is impacting their travel. If this is inaccurate, then please accept my apology and I would appreciate knowing so I can correct the record. If it is accurate, I request that SAT leadership review this course of action and correct the error.” Roy ended.
