Rep. Roy praises Trump's pick for DEA chief
WASHINGTON — Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement Tuesday afternoon following news that President Donald Trump had nominated Derek Maltz to be DEA Administrator:
I am very happy to see President Trump's nomination of my friend, Derek Maltz, to head up the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Derek is an outstanding choice. He served for nearly 30 years in the DEA — fighting to get poisonous drugs off the streets and stop the crime those drugs bring with them. He has an unmatched passion for the job and the skills to back it up. At a time when so many of our people have been killed by fentanyl and other drugs, he's exactly what we need.
I look forward to working with Derek and his team to clean up our streets and make our kids and communities safe again.
