Rep. Roy leads effort to get answers from Fauci on discounted COVID treatments and Natural Immunity

July 30, 2021

On Friday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) led several of his Republican colleagues in a letter to Dr. Fauci inquiring about effective countermeasures to COVID-19, such as natural immunity, Ivermectin, and Hydroxychloroquine.

"We write to inquire about certain correspondence from you and other stakeholders in the virology community regarding potential effective solutions in combatting COVID-19, including Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine," the letter reads. "We are concerned that certain effective strategies at combatting the pandemic may have been overlooked."

Co-signers include Reps: Bill Posey (FL-08), Brian Babin, D.D.S. (TX-36), Louie Gohmert (TX-01), Mark E. Green, M.D. (TN-07), Yvette Herrell (NM-02), Mary E. Miller (IL-15), Matthew Rosendale, Sr. (MT-AL), Lauren Boebert (CO-03), Randy Weber (TX-29), Andy Biggs (AZ-05), Scott Perry (PA-04), Michael Cloud (TX-27), and Bob Good (VA-05).

Regarding HCQ and Ivermectin, the letter notes that Dr. Fauci received an email from a doctor in April, 2020 with links to studies on potential antiviral drugs, including Chloroquine and Ivermectin. The doctor felt that he was being ignored and emailed later "Continue to ignore me."

Regarding natural immunity, Dr. Fauci has claimed that vaccines "can do better than nature" despite studies showing that vaccines are unlikely to benefit individuals with natural immunity.
