Rep. Roy issues statement on the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024

May 15, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC — On Wednesday, Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement after voting on H.R. 3925, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024:

“Today, the House passed H.R. 3925, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024. I voted yes.

I was proud to support this legislation because it included a provision that I fought for this Congress to expand flights at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). This provision is the legislative solution we needed to enable a nonstop flight between San Antonio International Airport and DCA.

San Antonio is the seventh largest city in America; it is home to 82,000 active-duty military and civilian support personnel, tens of thousands of veterans, and the second largest cybersecurity community in the US. It is well past time for the city and the surrounding region to have easy access to the airport closest to the US Capitol, the Pentagon, and our national monuments.

This Congress, I have relentlessly fought for a legislative solution to enable a nonstop flight between DCA and SAT. Last April, I led the San Antonio delegation in an organized effort to secure this legislative language. On the Rules Committee, we made sure the House considered an amendment to add seven flights at DCA. That amendment fell just short on the floor, but got closer than we’d ever achieved in the US House after years of fighting for these slots to help San Antonio — and paving the way for the compromise we see today in the Senate-passed FAA bill led by Senator Ted Cruz.

I appreciate the leadership my friend Senator Ted Cruz, Chairman Sam Graves, and my colleagues of both parties in the San Antonio delegation have shown in getting this done.”
