Rep. Roy Introduces Legislation to Eliminate the Tax-Exempt Status for Extremist Groups with Ties to Terrorist Organizations
Washington, D.C. — Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) introduced the No Tax-Exemptions for Terror Act. This legislation would eliminate the tax-exempt status for extremist groups with close ties to terrorist organizations, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
“It is absurd that the U.S. has provided organizations with ties to terrorism tax-exempt status in the U.S. – resulting in the American people inadvertently subsidizing terror against themselves. It is ridiculous, and we should have ended this long ago."
No organization with ties to terrorism should receive a tax benefit. For example, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) should immediately be stripped of their 501(c)(3) status. CAIR has ties with Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other extremist organizations that routinely use violence and commit horrific acts to advance their political agenda. CAIR's national Executive Director even praised Hamas' barbaric October 7th attacks against Israel.
CAIR and other non-profits with ties to terrorism should immediately be stripped of their 501(c)(3) status.”
Original cosponsors of the bill include Reps: Randy Fine (FL-6), Byron Donalds (FL-19), Clay Higgins (LA-03), Andy Ogles (TN-05), Keith Self (TX-03), Diana Harshbarger (TN-01), Mary Miller (IL-15), Andrew Clyde (GA-09), Andy Biggs (AZ-05), and Eric Burlison (MO-07).
