Rep. Roy demands DHS and FBI release information on Marine Base incident

May 28, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC — On Thursday, Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) led a group of 12 Republican lawmakers demanding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) disclose details regarding a recent incident by two foreign nationals on a Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia.

The lawmakers wrote,“A brazen attempt to infiltrate a military installation by foreign nationals from a terror-prone region rightly raises concerns as to whether this constituted a possible terrorist attack. Yet, the federal government has not disclosed whether this breach was terror-related.”

The attack happened on May 3rd when two Jordanian men occupying a box truck attempted to enter the Marine Corps base. The two men were eventually detained and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). One of the Jordanian nationals illegally crossed the border last month and was released into the interior. The other overstayed his student visa.

“The American people deserve to know the scope of the threat posed by potential terror suspects, and the extent to which the open border policies of this administration are facilitating it,”the group of legislators said.

Other Republicans that signed the letter include Representatives Andy Biggs (AZ-5), Josh Brecheen (OK-2), Andrew Clyde (GA-9), Matt Gaetz (FL-1), Bob Good (VA-5), Paul Gosar (AZ-9), Mary Miller (IL-15), Barry Moore (AL-2), Ralph Norman (SC-5), Andy Ogles (TN-5), Tom Tiffany (WI-7), and Randy Weber (TX-14).
