Rep. Roy calls out Democrats for stonewalling on border crisis information

September 24, 2021

WASHINGTON— Last week, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) and his colleagues introduced a resolution of inquiry – a privileged legislative vehicle – that would force a vote to require the Biden administration to release critical information on the border crisis.

If no committee action is taken on the resolution within 14 legislative days, the resolution receives a floor vote under House Rule XVIII. On Monday evening, however, Congressional Democrats secretly slipped language into a procedural vote to block such resolutions of inquiry from being discharged to the House floor.

"American lives are at stake every single day this crisis continues, yet Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats are breaking their own House rules in order to protect President Biden, Kamala Harris, and Secretary Mayorkas from answering even the most basic questions about it," Rep. Roy said. "We demanded answers, and the Democrats literally won't bring it to a vote. That's how afraid they are of the truth getting out."

More information on Rep. Roy's resolution of inquiry is available here and full text of the resolution can be found here.
