Rep. Chip Roy On Congressional Post Office Naming

April 3, 2019

WASHINGTON--Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) released the following statement Wednesday morning:

"As it pertains to post office naming, I will try not to stand in the way of these bills getting a vote. As a matter of principle, I will not vote for politicians to name buildings after other politicians. I don't think it is a wise use of time. As it pertains to post offices specifically, and in regards to me cosponsoring HR 512, in order for those bills to even be considered, the entire Texas delegation must co-sponsor. Whenever possible, I will not prevent friends and colleagues in the Texas delegation from making their own voting decisions in these instances."
