Congressman Roy slams Biden administration as border apprehension numbers are slated to show more than 500,000 in 2021

May 7, 2021

WASHINGTON — Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement Friday morning regarding preliminary April immigration numbers:

According to reliable sources on the ground and based on media reports of approximately 6,000 apprehensions per day over the past month - apprehensions for the month of April will end up near 175,000, which will bring the 2021 apprehension levels to over 500,000.

Even worse, these sources also inform us that there were likely over 40,000 known "got-aways" and that drugs are pouring into our country at incredibly high levels between the ports of entry all while cartels are enriched and immigrants are abused. Our Border Patrol officers are overwhelmed, state and local law enforcement are forced to confront the spread of cartel operations further into our communities, and countless people are falling victim to human trafficking every single day.

While the Biden Administration will claim all is well because CBP isn't holding as many UACs despite those same kids still being in government custody, the truth is plain to everyone with eyes to see: this crisis is getting worse.

Yet, the Biden Administration is inexplicably patting itself on the back for creating a "fair, orderly, and humane immigration system." If the President and Vice President had compassion for anyone in this equation other than the radicals in their base, they would put a stop to this chaos now.

The solution is simple: secure the border, enforce the law to stop the flow, and use every tool available to bring down the cartels. Until we make these changes, this crisis will only continue to get worse.
