Congressman Roy backs the blue with legislation to honor and fight for America’s police officers
WASHINGTON —Congressman Roy cosponsored three pieces of legislation to defend American law enforcement officers and uphold the rule of law introduced during National Police Week 2021.
This week, Congressman Roy:
- Cosponsored the "Back the Blue" resolution introduced by Rep. Ken Buck (CO-4) which offers sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Nation's law enforcement officers, recognizes the sacrifices they make every day for this country; and rejects reckless, radical efforts to defund and dismantle the Nation's law enforcement agencies.
- Cosponsored the National Police Week resolution introduced by Reps. Michael Guest (MS-3) and Julia Letlow (LA-5), which honors by name the 394 officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2020 or whose stories were lost until now.
- Cosponsored the "Lawless Cities Accountability Act," introduced by Rep. Matt Rosendale (MT-AL) which would prohibit federal funding for jurisdictions that weaken law enforcement efforts or fail to maintain law and order.
"This week we honor our brave men and women in uniform — both those who have given the ultimate sacrifice while serving their fellow citizens and those who continue to serve. We owe them an unquestionable debt of gratitude," Rep. Roy said.
"Unfortunately, America's law enforcement are under assault by radicals who want to send this country down a path of chaos and violence," Rep. Roy added. "In order for our country and its people to flourish, the rule of law must prevail. For that to happen, America must stand with the men and women of law enforcement. They put their lives on the line every single day for us; that dedication should be defended, not defunded."
