‘We have the power of the purse; we should use it’: Rep. Roy on not funding a government that imposes vaccine mandates

November 12, 2021

WASHINGTON—On Friday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) joined guest host Tim Young on The David Webb Show to discuss the Biden administration's unconstitutional vaccine mandate and why Republicans should refuse to fund the federal government in December if the administration continues plans to implement it.

Full audio of the interview can be found hereand some key quotes are below:

  • Should the House Republicans, any one of the 213, or the Senate Republicans vote for any government funding, the continuing resolution, an omnibus spending bill, or any other funding mechanism to fund a government that is carrying out an unlawful, unconstitutional mandate on private citizens and a full-headed, wrong, immoral mandate on members of our military, CBP, DEA, all of the other law enforcement entities? The answer to that question is clearly no. Now the question is will the Republicans do anything about that? Answer: not unless the American people demand it.
  • We have the power to hold federal funds back and mandate-or force, I should say, the President and his tyrannical minions in his administration to stop. We have the power of the purse, we should use it.
  • We should be studying and diving into natural immunity, we should be seeking the truth on natural immunity, we should stop politicizing a virus and the vaccine in some sort of quest for political power, and that's what's going on.
  • We've got to have a truthful conversation about this so that the American people can know the truth and make good decisions. We shouldn't be forcing this on families and on people.
  • The American people are going to have to keep fighting to get the truth.
