WASHINGTON—On Monday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) joined the Joe Pags Show to discuss his views on the border crisis, the Second Amendment and the culture war going on in America.
Full audio of the interview is available at the link here (starting around 1 hour and 40 minutes in) and some key quotes are below:
- We have people in Texas suffering. We have drugs flowing into our communities. We have children dying from opioid poisonings- fentanyl. We have China using the cartels to essentially target us. Our ranchers getting overrun, fences getting cut, livestock getting out, we've got people in danger, we just need to go secure the border.
- At the end of the day, we have a duty to defend our communities and families and we need to be pushing back on the feds and take that into our own hands in Texas.
- [Biden and Mayorkas] willfully obstruct, they willfully refuse to faithfully execute the laws of the United States… They've got tools at their disposal, they're not using them, they're endangering us, that is one of the reasons the founders gave us impeachment.
- The principle exists, the Second Amendment exists, in order to give all power to the people and then to have the clear signal to the government that we are the ones who have the power.
- I'm not looking to go after whatever your choices are in life, but just don't shove that into my kids. Don't teach them that in school. Don't try to say that marriage is what that is or that kids don't need a mom and a dad. Those are the ultimate problems...It's a culture war and we are seeing it. We've got to win that war.
