ICYMI: Rep. Roy stresses the emergency at the border as Texas sees an 800% increase in fentanyl seizures

June 21, 2021

WASHINGTON—Recently, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) joined George Rodriguez on The El Conservador Show to discuss the worsening national security and humanitarian crisis at the southern border that erupted as a result of President Biden's harmful immigration policies.

Footage of the interview can be found here and some key quotes are below:

  • [The border crisis has spurred] an 800% increase in fentanyl stops, here in Texas- 800% increase in the first five months of 2021 over the entirety of the previous four years combined.
  • The danger of these cartels is reaching into our communities. I would challenge her on her knowledge on the cartels. What does she know about the Cartel Jalisco New Generation, and what they have done in terms of absorbing the Reynosa faction of the Gulf Cartel?
  • It's quite apparent that the Vice President doesn't go to the border because she knows that it is a complete and total disaster and she doesn't want to have any ownership of it. She laughs it off because she has no answer for why she's not going.
  • The federal government is refusing to do its job to secure the border of the United States. It is natural law that people have a right to defend themselves-our Constitution reflects that. I think that Texas ought to say, "enough, we're going to defend our communities and we're going to hold the line right now."
  • [The Biden administration wants] open borders, they want to endanger American citizens, they want to endanger migrants and pretend it's compassionate. Our job is to stand up and say no.
