Washington, D.C. – Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement Thursday evening following House passage of H.R. 6938, Retaining Division A (Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations).

"Today, I voted against the Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations bill because it utterly fails to address the blatant denial of justice across the country by sanctuary cities, funds outrageous wasteful earmarks, and continues to fund grant programs ripe for abuse and fraud.

We respectfully request that the House of Representatives bring the Secure the Border Act, also known as “H.R. 2,” in the 118th Congress, for a vote when we reconvene in January 2026 to permanently secure the border, codifying President Trump’s successful border policies.

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement after President Trump signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law, which included a repeal of the 1991 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMFs) related to Iraq.

"I have long pushed for Article I to take back its constitutional responsibility to authorize and end war declarations, rather than leaving outdated authorizations on the books - sometimes for decades - that no longer reflect current realities.
