Rep. Roy’s statement opposing the ‘Women’s Health Protection Act’

Press Release

WASHINGTON— Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement Friday after voting against the so-called ‘Women’s Health Protection Act of 2021:

Today, Democrats in Washington pushed through legislation that radically assaults the right to life of millions of future Americans — as well as the very principles that this Republic was founded upon.

Democrats in Washington do not trust federalism and the democratic process, passing legislation that would throw out more than 1300 democratically passed state-level pro-life laws — including the ability of Texans to simply recognize the natural rights of human beings with a heartbeat. They purposefully ignore that states like Texas and pro-life Americans around the country are already doing the lifesaving work of caring for mothers AND the children of crisis pregnancies every single day.

I proudly voted no on this legislation and will always vigorously stand for and defend the fundamental right to life. And I encourage those who stand with me to look up your local pregnancy resource center today and see what you can do to help out.
