Rep. Chip Roy On H.R. 183 Regarding Anti-Semitism

Press Release

WASHINGTON--Rep. Chip Roy released the following statement Thursday evening regarding his vote against H.R. 183:

“I have already voted to condemn anti-Semitism and I will continue to condemn anti-Semitism and all forms of hate and ignorance towards people based on their background, or religious affiliation. A member of Congress has demonstrated a continued habit of making anti-Semitic remarks that many in the Democratic Party refuse to recognize or punish. Furthermore, Democratic leadership refused to focus this resolution against that specific member in order to provide that member with political cover. This type of hate, bigotry, and anti-Semitism have no place in Congress or society at large. This is a sham cover vote designed to avoid dealing with a rogue member. Tonight, I voted NO on this resolution but will continue to strongly oppose anti-Semitism and religious hatred.”
