WASHINGTON—On Tuesday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) joined Rob Schmitt on Newsmax to discuss the Democrats’ outrageous $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that contains provisions that use the guise of traditional infrastructure to advance their radical agenda.

Full length of the interview is available here and some key quotes are below:

  • [The infrastructure bill] has a significant number of provisions in it that would basically lay the foundation for the Green New Deal, a lot of electric vehicles, a lot of mass transit, a lot of dollars that go from red states frankly, to blue states, a lot of empowerment of bureaucrats to make decisions about how our dollars are spent to advance the Green New Deal agenda- that is an anti-carbon, anti-fossil fuel, anti-pro America agenda.

  • [The thirteen Republicans who voted for the bill] were basically adopting a bill that wasn’t good on the merits, but even worse- it sides with Democrats who- we had them on their heels, they just gave them a political victory on Friday night and no reason to do so.

  • I’m not going to allow a gun to be put to my head to say, “well you’re not going to get infrastructure unless you embrace this radical agenda.”

  • I’m not going to be held hostage to a radical leftist agenda and I’m not going to listen to thirteen members of the United States Republican Conference in Congress go say, “hey, I’m going to go side with Nancy Pelosi and give them a hall pass for their radical agenda.”
