Rep. Roy Votes Against Rule on NDAA

June 30, 2026

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement after voting against the rule to proceed on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“I had no choice but to vote no on today’s rule to proceed to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) because House Republican Leadership has once again failed to keep its promises to codify President Trump’s border policies into law, along with other key conservative priorities that remain stalled.

While I appreciate the efforts to strengthen the bill and make important amendments in order—including my amendments to combat the New World Screwworm and prohibit the training of foreign nationals at our military academies—we must use every ounce of leverage available to make President Trump’s border policies permanent.

I remain hopeful we can move forward soon with a productive, conservative agenda. Authorizing our Department of War and strengthening our national defense are essential, but House Leadership must first demonstrate that it is serious about delivering on the commitments it has made,” said Rep. Roy.
